We are thrilled to introduce you to our new nutritionist, Katie Lemons. As a CNS, certified intuitive eating counselor, and family medicine PA in Massachusetts, Katie uses her various backgrounds to embody what it means to be an integrative care practitioner. She strives to bring realistic and accessible recommendations to her practice, making health promoting behavior change enjoyable and sustainable. Meet Katie!
What type of patients do you love to work with?
Can I say all? Is that allowed?? With a background in family medicine, I've always been drawn to supporting folks through all different life seasons and stages, and meeting patients exactly where they're at. It's one of the reasons I love studying and talking about nutrition! There's so much individualization and tailoring to help foster authentic and whole health.
What’s your personal nutrition philosophy?
Over the years I've shifted to using the word nourishment to describe nutrition because so often it's much more than just food. It's not only what you eat, but the how and why behind eating. It's looking at the whole picture and person, zooming out to see how food and behaviors lead to global nourishment and wellbeing. Food is not only medicine, but also joy, culture, community, and a moment of pleasure and savoring. It serves so many different physical and emotional functions, and I love exploring these layers with patients.
What are you most excited about when it comes to officially joining the indigo team?
Where to begin?! I've had the chance to observe Indigo over the last year and a half and absorb that goodness through passive diffusion. Each member of the team is pure magic, and together they make up the most beautiful and nurturing mosaic. Indigo embodies careful and thoughtful attention, warmth, support, intuition, and compassion in every touchpoint. I am just thrilled to be part of this team.
When you’re not supporting clients and patients in healing and health, what are you up to?
Probably smothering my dog in compliments or buried under a cocoon of blankets with a mug of tea and a book.
