  • In general, no, but if you are already working with a provider and would like us to connect, please have them fax us their notes.

  • Absolutely! Reach out via email or phone and our office managers can help guide you. If you plan to work with several of us at once, we can assign a care navigator to help you come up with a plan.

  • Yes, of course! We believe in collaborative care and will work with you to make sure everyone who is providing care is "in the loop".

  • We're always looking to add like-minded licensed providers to our team. Send your resume and cover letter, explaining why you'd like to join a collaborative practice to hello@indigowellnessgroup.com

  • We work with pregnant women all the time! The only services we DONT recommend during pregnancy are the infrared sauna and the PEMF mat. Reach out I you have any questions.

insurance & cancellations

  • We do not bill insurance, but many of our patients are able to be reimbursed for our services by submitting a “superbill”, and invoice with specific insurance coding, to their insurance provider.

To find out about coverage, call the patient number on the back of your card and ask:

Do I have out-of-network coverage for acupuncture/ physical therapy/ nutrition services?

What percentage of the visit is covered?

Is there a limit to how many visits per year?

Do I have an out-of-network deductible to meet?

    What diagnoses are covered?

    How do I submit super-bills?

We encourage you to use your flexible spending and health savings account debit cards for our services—these pretax accounts provided by some insurance companies are a great way to offset the cost of your out-of-pocket health care costs.

  • We accept cash (exact change only), check, or credit card (including HSA/Flex-spend) at the time of service. We require a credit card on file to hold your appointment.

  • Your appointment time is reserved for you, and your provider takes time to prepare for your visit ahead of time. We ask that you provide us at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment. This allows us time to offer the appointment slot to a patient on the waiting list. Appointments cancelled under 24 hours will be charged 50% of the appointment fee, and cancellations under 2 hours and no-shows will be charged the full appointment fee. In event of a late cancellation, the credit card on file will be charged. Thank you for your understanding and mindfulness of this policy.

acupuncture faqs

  • Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese healing practice in which hair-thin needles are inserted in precise locations on the body in order to help the body restore or maintain proper energy flow along pathways called meridians. According to Chinese Medicine, imbalances of this energy, called "qi" ( pronounced “chee”) are the root of all illnesses. Scientific research has shown that acupuncture helps to regulate the nervous system and restore homeostasis—the balanced state of the body—by increasing blood flow in the body, reducing inflammation, and increasing production of neurotransmitters and endorphins, our body's natural pain and stress relievers.

  • Acupuncture can help heal a variety of conditions, ranging from musculoskeletal pain to infertility to chronic depression and anxiety. Patients are diagnosed not just by their main symptoms, but by a pattern identification method that takes all the systems of the body into account and looks for underlying imbalances. This method takes into consideration much more than just the presenting symptoms. For example, five patients seeking treatment for migraines might have five completely different patterns and will therefore receive five different treatments. We ask questions, take pulses in six different locations, and look at tongue shape, color and coating to help diagnose. We look for and aim to treat at the root level in order to help your body heal itself, physically, mentally and emotionally. Many people, including myself, come to acupuncture initially for treatment of a specific ailment, but move on to use acupuncture in a more preventative/maintenance capacity.

  • This is a very common concern—when people hear "needles" they immediately imagine hypodermic needles delivering painful shots at the doctor's office as a child. Those are no fun for anyone! Acupuncture needles are as thin as a hair and their insertion is virtually painless. This isn't to say that you won't feel it at all, because there is a definite sensation upon insertion, but most patients come to like it. If you are nervous about needles, definitely speak up! We are trained in many different techniques to help desensitize acupuncture points before needle insertion. If this still sounds miserable, don't rule out Chinese Medicine altogether. There are other modalities that we can use including cupping, guasha, moxabustion and tui na medical massage as well as Chinese Herbal Medicine and nutritional guidance that can be used to help balance your body without the use of needles.

  • During your initial visit, we will start with a lengthy health history in which we will ask you a series of questions about your condition and your health in general. (You may not think that your menstrual cycle or anxiety has any connection to your chronic knee pain, but we do!) We will also take your pulses according to the Chinese pulse theory and look at your tongue. If you are coming in for a musculoskeletal issue or injury, we may perform orthopedic testing on you. Once we have identified an underlying pattern of disharmony and prepared a treatment plan, we will insert anywhere between four and twenty needles and leave them inserted for 15 to 30 minutes. Of course this all will vary by patient. Be sure to ask any questions you have upfront, don’t be shy! We may perform supplementary techniques (mentioned above), and discuss dietary modifications and herbal formulas. Your first session will last 60-75 minutes. Follow-up treatments will have a shortened intake and will generally last 45-60 minutes.

  • This all depends on the nature or your illness or severity of injury, but most people do report improvement after one treatment. We will work with you to identify short-term and long-term goals, and we will let you know how many treatments and with what frequency we think you might need. Generally, we suggest a series of five treatments before evaluating progress.

Your health and happiness are our priority, and we work with a variety of healthcare practitioners in the area who we are always happy to refer out to if we think they can be of help to you.

pelvic therapy faqs

  • Please arrive at least five minutes before your visit. We will do our best to accommodate late arrivals but please note your visit may be shortened. Please make sure to eat before your visit, and wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing. Please avoid wearing lotions and perfumes, as many of our patients are fragrance sensitive.

  • During your first visit we want to hear your story. Everyone's journey to physical therapy is different. Following the history taking we will do a full musculoskeletal examination, and then if needed and you are ready, a digital internal pelvic floor exam. The exam is always based on your consent and comfort level. An important aspect of this visit is education, we want you to leave having knowledge of your condition and an understanding of our treatment plan which will be tailored specifically to our findings and your goals.

  • YES! We won't do any internal vaginal work during the 1st trimester but there are plenty of things we can work on that don't involve internal palpation. You can come in anytime during pregnancy, and would recommend coming in at least once before giving birth to help you connect to your pelvic floor, prepare tissue for delivery, and talk to you about what to expect for pelvic floor and abdominal healing.

  • After you have seen your MD for your 6 weeks postpartum check up if you had a vaginal delivery and 8 weeks following a C-section delivery.

  • Yes, we see women who are menstruating all the time. Not all sessions have to focus on internal work. Most importantly, we want you to feel comfortable. So please schedule how it feels right to you.

  • Absolutely! We strongly believe in an integrative, team-based model of health care. We are happy to coordinate your care with any and all healthcare providers you see.

  • We sure do. Men have pelvic floors too!

nutrition faqs

  • Every client gameplan is different. If weight loss is the goal, typically we suggest an initial session followed by weekly follow ups for the first month. If we’re working on gut healing, we might meet less regularly to allow time for progress. We will come up with your ideal “recipe” for accountability and to meet your personal wellness goals. If you’re just looking for a wellness upgrade, we’ll start with one session and then figure out the best game plan for you!

  • We offer both in-person and virtual nutrition appointments. The in-person appointments are at our office in Westport, CT with dietitian Sarah Becker. For our virtual appointments, you can be anywhere in the world. We have clients from NY to LA, Australia to London. We’ll hop on our video platform to “meet” for our first 1:1 session, and then can do phone for future sessions.
