Snack Secrest

Snacks are key to keeping your blood sugar stable and keep you from getting hangry. But snacks can be confusing with so many options, nutrition bars, and insta advice. Our nutritionist @carolynbrownie is sharing a few of her favorites, along with some snack tips.

1. While we’re mostly working and spending our days at home, I’m a huge fan of unpackaged, whole food snacks. My friend @abbysfoodcourt calls this snacking naked 😆. You’ll see most of my favorites are “naked”, packageless and real food options
2. Balance your snack: just a piece of fruit, dried fruit, or chips will leave you hungry within the hour. Pair it with some protein (turkey slices, hb eggs, cottage cheese) or some good fat (nuts, seeds, avocado) for fullness
3. If you’re a grazer, put it all on a plate! No eating from the bag, and if you want to be an A+ student, no eating while standing.
4. Mix up textures and use spices and herbs!

I’m a reformed snackatarian so I get that snacking can be stressful. But it also can be pretty simple. Here are a few of my favorite options:

• 1/2 avo, everything bagel seasoning, red pepper & local organic blue corn chips
• diy trail mix: almonds, pistachios, dark chocolate chips & currants
• apple slices with cinnamon, almond butter with a drizzle of cacao superfood honey (available in our iwg shop!)
• Cabbage, kale or collard green leaves make amazing crunchy “wraps”. Fill up with Applegate turkey, avo and cilantro.
