how our team handles anxiety + overwhelm

We asked many of our team members the question: when you're overwhelmed or anxious, what do you *really* do?

While we know we all could be meditating or journaling (and those are great habits!), that's not always possible or realistic.

Here's what our wellness practitioners had to say:

Liz Alexandre: "I do karate twice a week which is my church, and also The Class by Taryn Toomy. I'll go to dinner with a good girl friend, and of course, acupuncture!"

Julianne Furniss-Green: "I do horse lips breathing, I go for a walk with my dog, and then I watch the cheesiest rom com I can find- bonus points if I can predict the ending within the first ten minutes."

Cathie Grzeczka: "I sit in my backyard screen porch when it’s raining. Sooo calming!"

Aly Crouse: "Taking a bath and watching a show on my iPad. The bath has 1 cup epsom salts and 1/2 a container of this lavender foam bath. Fun fact: I learned that watching a series you've already watched can help with anxiety because you know what to expect/the storyline of what is going to happen. I'm re-watching Gilmore Girls for the millionth time now.
ALSO - energy healing! Seeing the people who know how to get me grounded and clear my aura from all the static and noise everywhere."

Kara Fanelli: "I move my body in the am. Before I start helping other people, I try and help myself. I also write a list of what really needs to happen and what can wait."

Katie Lemons: "Comfy socks! Or putting fuzzy/wooly socks in the dryer for an instant foot warmer and grounding exercise."

Carolyn Brown: "I turn my phone on airplane mode, make a cup of tea, and tune into the latest episode of the Golden Bachelor."

Sarah Swanberg: "I focus on taking deep, full breaths, and I'll try to get my feet in the sand or grass for some grounding."

Avery Kraus: "You already know mine is Gilmore Girls ;)"

There you have it! This is your invitation to put Gilmore Girls in your Netflix queue. For a few other ideas, watch this reel.

In all seriousness, this is an extremely difficult season for many, and we have several practitioners available to support you through grief, fear, anxiety, overwhelm, or any feeling you don't know what to do with. Email us back here if you need support on where to start.
