daily rituals from our founders
Hi Friend,
Fall is flying by. Today our co-founders Sarah Swanberg & Carolyn Brown are sharing their daily rituals that bring moments of calm in hectic, busy seasons. We hope you can use today's email to find micro moments of joy, delight, awe, and peace during your days.
increasing joy and presence through ritual
Sarah & Carolyn here! While we can't change or remove challenging life circumstances for our patients or family, we can increase our resilience and adaptability. That's one of many reasons we love what we do at Indigo. We get to hold the hands of our patients as they navigate all of the big and little life things, from joyful celebrations to loss, grief, and health challenges. One way we stay grounded, in addition to taking advantage of our own Indigo services, is through daily rituals.
Sarah's daily rituals:
Water before coffee: This is a daily non-negotiable to get my day started from a place of replenishment and hydration.
Mini meditation: I take 5 deep and slow breaths any time I'm feeling overwhelmed or at capacity. I makes my exhales one or two seconds longer than the inhales for maximum nervous system support.
Going deep: Every day I make a point to have connection time with my daughters, ages 9 and 12. We talk about our “roses, thorns and unicorns” aka all the things happening in our lives, and practice identifying emotions and where we feel them in the body. I try to get vulnerable with them to model that it’s okay to have lots of big feelings! Sometimes this happens in the car, over dinner, while saying goodnight or even while watching our favorite show (Only Murders in the Building!).
Carolyn's daily rituals:
Super Green Drink: I start every morning with 20oz of water and a salty-sweet green drink. I use organic greens powder with SunFiber x a packet of electrolytes. My body craves it!
Outside O'clock: I take my dog for a leisurely walk before the day starts. I call this our 10-before-10. 10 mins of sunshine before 10am is great for your circadian rhythm, especially if you're on screens and inside most of the day.
Magic Mag: I use magnesium at least once time a day, either in the form of our Rituals magnesium oil spray or Magnesium Glycinate before bed for relaxation and sweet dreams.
We've put all sorts of daily rituals into our brand new Daily Rituals Card Deck. We created this deck with Rituals cofounder Kelly Liberty to bring indigo into your home.
It contains 70 daily prompts including:
self-reflection
goal-setting
mindfulness
empowerment
holistic wellness tips
Pick a card for an intention or action for the day. We can't wait to hear about the ripple effect this has on your life.
