Is it hot in here, or is it just you?

In traditional Chinese Medicine (aka TCM), summer energy is considered active, joyful and hot! All great things, but if the summer vibes aren't kept in check, it can lead to feeling chaotic and burnt out. Here are some tips to help you stay balanced.

  • Eat cooling foods. According to TCM, these include all of summer's best: watermelon, cucumber, mint, celery, and radish. Add them to salads or snack on them with a dip. Our nutritionists also love these because they're water and nutrient dense.

  • If you're feeling frazzled or stuck in your head, massage your feet. Give your feet some love by massaging your soles to bring your energy down and ground you.

  • Visit natural water sources in your environment. Creeks, lakes, oceans, streams... it all counts. Ideally put your feet in or jump in to get fully refreshed.

  • Slow down. Take a note from the Europeans and give yourself some down time. If you're going to schedule anything, schedule rest and free time to explore, read, write, and be with loved ones.

  • Get acupuncture. If you're feeling like you just can't beat the heat, or you're on the verge of burnout, book acupuncture ASAP.
