10 Uncomplicated Nutrition Principles
Carolyn Brown, Indigo’s Nutritionist, recently celebrated 10 years as a registered dietitian & nutritionist! 👩🏼🌾 YAY! To celebrate, she wrote down 10 totally uncomplicated nutrition principles for you🥬🥒🥦🥑🍍🍉
Food is energy. Low calorie is actually not a desirable thing, assuming you want energy/good mood/immunity/healthy skin/focus & memory/fertility.
Vegetables & water. 99% of us could have more 💦🌿🙋🏼♀️
Your body works v hard and efficiently to maintain a healthy metabolism and it’s hormonal and detoxification processes. Sometimes we do need to nudge it along by limiting specific foods and adding supplements. Food first always, though!
Cook when you can. The more homemade, the more connected to your food, & the healthier it will be.👩🏻🍳
Slow the fork down. HOW you eat is as important as what and when you eat. When you eat, try to only eat, no distractions.
Fat and carbs aren’t “bad” and more protein and fiber aren’t “good”. Our bodies require all 3 food groups and you can srsly overdo extracted fiber.
The way you talk about & think about your body is as important as what goes in it. Curate the info you let in accordingly (including anyone who gives you insta-envy). It MATTERS.
As @abbysfoodcourt says, SNACK NAKED. Eat unpackaged foods & snacks wherever you can. Fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds, avocado, eggs, sweet potatoes...
Sleep, connection, gratitude & daily movement (beyond exercise) are nutrition secret weapons.
Drink less alcohol. Sorry 😑 but your sleep, mood, energy, skin, anxiety, weight etc will love you for it.
Which are your faves? 💙🍠🥦🥑🍴🍵👩🏾🌾
